Sled Island Rock Lotto 2024
Once again, Sled Island brings together 25 musicians from various backgrounds and draws names from a hat to form one-off bands for one night only, with less than 10 hours to write and perform new material!
This one-of-a-kind event is focused on creating meaningful connections between musicians just starting their music journey in the city and artists more familiar with the Calgary music scene, with the goal of fostering a more diverse music ecosystem and increasing equitable access to creative opportunities for all.

Art of Financial Literacy with ATB and Calgary Folk Fest
In honour of Financial Literacy Month this November, ATB & Calgary Folk Music Festival are inviting artists, musicians, and gig economy workers to Festival Hall for a free event to explore the realities of living with financial uncertainty in a precarious event environment. A panel will provide insights and practical tools for creatives working in Calgary, Alberta. Light refreshments and a complimentary beverage for each attendee will be served.

Blue Jay Sessions is excited to be celebrating its 5th anniversary with a very special two-night event series at the Mamdani Opera Centre!
Presented by Craig Senyk Initiatives, the Blue Jay Sessions: 5th Anniversary Spectacular is an exciting theatrical-inspired event that will merge together elements of Broadway production and live music with the help of a captivating cross-section of alumni performers from across Canada
Series founder and media personality Dan Clapson will co-host each night’s show with celebrated artists country singer Mariya Stokes (Sept. 5) and alt-R&B singer ZENON (Sept. 6). Each evening will feature 12+ Blue Jay Sessions alumni taking the stage to perform a mix of original songs and covers backed by a band and a string section in the charming Mamdani Opera Centre.

Have you ever watched "Whose Line is It Anyway" or "Wildn n' Out" and wondered how people come up with their responses so quickly? You won't believe it but a lot of it is just practice! And not practicing being the slickest MC or funniest comedian but just practicing how to embrace those intrusive thoughts and make the most of whatever comes first to your mind. This workshop is for beginner to intermediate artists looking to silence the inner voice that stops awesome ideas from becoming reality and improve their ability to improvise through simple activities and exercises.
Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).
The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

Ruth's House 2nd Annual Fundraising Gala
Ruth’s House goal is to raise $100,000 for the 1st African Men's Emergency Shelter providing shelter and support to men fleeing domestic abuse or perpetrators of abuse to access a safe place for healing, rehabilitation, and restoration.

Beyond the Token
The Central Library will be activated as a space to showcase art, and more importantly, to feel it through performance and discussion. There will be spoken word performances and artists displaying their art for us all to interact with. The event will conclude with a discussion that moves Black Art beyond tokenism and celebrates its role within the community in a thought-provoking conversation that gives Black Art its flowers.
Our performers will include performances from poets Priscilla Bukasa and A lot of Poetry, music from local artist K The Chosen, and art programming provided by Alcove Center for the Arts.

Village Voices release party
On June 22nd, come celebrate the release of "Village Voices:Vol.1" and hear the songs live for the first time!
Village Voices is a collaborative project featuring multiple hip-hop acts from around Calgary. All beats were produced by Tylarrr with features from KTheChosen, Lowkita, Rubix, Troo Knot and Swavey Sensei. The event will be hosted by Tylarrr with DJ Nasty G on the turn tables.
This will be an unforgettable night at the Rosé Lounge on Stephen Ave.

Kantorei Choral Society Choral Festival and Gala Concert
Mount Royal Kantorei presents the inaugural Kantorei Choral Festival Gala Concert, celebrating storytelling and community through the choral arts. The gala concert is the culmination of the week long Kantorei Choral Festival where 300 singers from choirs across Canada participated in workshops, masterclasses and professional development with special guest clinicians and composers Joshua Rist and Emmy award winning composer, Jake Runestad. We are thrilled to present the world premiere of two newly commissioned works for the Festival “Ritual” by Jake Runestad and “I Will Walk You Home” by Joshua Rist as well as individual performances by the choirs that participated in the festival. The choirs will fill the entire balcony level and choir loft of the beautiful Bella Concert Hall while the audience experiences the music from the main level, a rare experience for fans of choral music!
